As the industry’s #1 manufacturer of outdoor fiberglass walk-in coolers and walk-in freezers, Polar King units are designed to endure even the most rugged conditions and climates. However, routine cleaning and maintenance is an essential part of preserving and extending the life span of your walk-in cooler or freezer. The following guidelines and safety tips should be followed while performing any cleaning or maintenance on your Polar King unit. Failure to follow these recommendations could result in injury or damage to one or more components of your Polar King.
Cleaning and Maintenance Guidelines
1. Before altering any controls, switches, or other devices carrying electrical current, disconnect the power supply to your walk-in cooler or freezer. Failure to disconnect the power supply may result in electric shock or damage to one or more electrical components.
2. The internal box temperature of all Polar King units are preset at the factory to customer request. It is important that the temperature selection should not be adjusted up or down. If a different temperature is required, contact Polar King for the proper procedure on changing the preset temperature.
3. When performing any cleaning inside of the unit with a liquid substance, turn off the power supply to your walk-in cooler or freezer. This will help prevent damage to any electrical systems inside of the unit. It is also important to refrain from using bleach, ammonia, or other harsh chemicals when cleaning inside of the unit. These types of abrasive cleaners may cause damage to the coil surface or other components.
4. Do not disconnect the main power supply of your walk-in cooler or freezer while the compressor is running. This may cause damage to the compressor if it is not allowed to pump down. Ensure that the compressor is finished with its current cycle before disconnecting the power supply.
Following the Polar King Cleaning and Maintenance Guidelines will not only ensure safety but will also prevent damage to your walk-in unit.
